Meet Keith
I swapped the law for the grooming table.
I set up Keith's K9 Care, a professional dog grooming service in Wakefield, after more than 30 years working as a solicitor. I decided to swap the courtroom for the dog spa and work with dogs full-time.
My love of dogs began when our golden retriever, Ringo, arrived during lockdown. What started as a new addition to the family quickly grew into something much bigger, and before long Ringo was joined by Rolo, whose lively, playful streak is the perfect contrast to Ringo's calm and gentle nature.
These days I run a calm, one-to-one dog grooming service in Wakefield from my purpose-built home spa. Every dog I care for has my full attention, with no other animals around during their appointment. It makes for a relaxed, safe and stress-free room, which suits nervous or anxious dogs especially well.

Cockapoos, doodles, terriers, retrievers, small breeds and large breeds are all welcome here, whatever the coat type. I do puppy first grooms, senior tidies and de-matting too.

I publish my prices upfront. The rates are competitive, there are no hidden fees, and I always confirm the final price with you before we start.
Full Groom
1.5–3 hours- Small dogs from £40

Puppy First Groom
45–60 minutes- Puppy Intro Groom from £25
- Follow-up Puppy Groom from £30
Bath & Tidy
45–75 minutes- Small dogs from £30
- Medium dogs from £40
- Large dogs / doodles from £50
Surcharges where applicable: matted coats from £10 (severe cases assessed on the day), nervous, anxious or reactive dogs +£10 to £20, and extra time may apply for heavy coats or long gaps between grooms.
The salon
A purpose-built salon in Hall Green.
It's a home salon in a converted garage. There are no kennels and your dog won't hear other dogs barking through the wall. Fully equipped, calm, and set up around your dog's comfort.

Where are you based?
4 Castle Meadows, Hall Green, Wakefield WF4 3QJ - a purpose-built home salon in a converted garage, two minutes from Newmillerdam Country Park.
Are you qualified?
Yes - I am IPET (iPET Network) qualified, trained at Mrs B's Grooming Academy in Leeds. Fully insured.
Will my dog be on their own, or with other dogs?
On their own. I groom one dog at a time in a quiet home setting. Every dog gets my full attention from start to finish, and I find that makes for a much calmer, more enjoyable experience for them.
How much will it cost?
Full prices are published on our pricing page. Small dogs from £40, medium from £50, large or doodles from £60 for a full groom. We'll always confirm the price before we start, and we don't hide surcharges.
How long does a groom take?
A full groom is usually 1.5 to 3 hours depending on size and coat. Puppy first grooms are shorter (45 minutes to an hour) so we can take it gently.
