Right next door, just down the lanes

Chapelthorpe and Hall Green sit side by side in the same WF4 patch, so for Chapelthorpe owners I'm about as local as a groomer gets. You're past St James's Church and the cricket club, then down the lanes to me at Castle Meadows, a four-minute hop. Plenty of my Chapelthorpe regulars simply walk the dog over and back, and a dog that's already stretched its legs tends to settle far better on the table.

I'm a one-to-one home salon, so your dog is the only one in the room. There are no kennels and no other dogs about, just a quiet converted garage and time to take it steady.

Coxley mud and Newmillerdam's lake

Chapelthorpe dogs tend to come back from the best walks in a real state, and I see the evidence on the coat. Coxley Woods and the valley over towards Netherton are gorgeous but properly claggy. The paths along Coxley Beck churn up after rain, and that wet, gritty mud works its way deep into feathering and the undercarriage on spaniels and doodles. The old mining ground around the village holds the wet, so even the field edges and lanes between here, Painthorpe and Crigglestone stay heavy for days.

Head the other way and there's the long circular round Newmillerdam, dropping through farmland and woodland on the way back round to Chapelthorpe; lake water and pond edges leave a damp, slightly sour smell and matting behind the ears and legs if it isn't dried and brushed out. Late summer brings burrs and grass seed off those field margins too. Whatever your dog has rolled in, I'll wash it through, dry it properly and tease out the tangles before they tighten into mats.

Qualified for every coat, priced up front

I'm IPET-qualified and cover the lot, from full grooms and puppy first grooms to bath and tidy, nail trims and de-matting, and I'll always confirm the price with you before I start.

Booking your Chapelthorpe dog in is a quick call, WhatsApp or message, whether it's a regular groom, a first puppy visit or a tidy-up before a family occasion.

Frequently asked

Grooming in Chapelthorpe, your questions

How close is the salon to Chapelthorpe?

Very close. I'm in neighbouring Hall Green, the same WF4 area, about 1.2 miles or a four-minute drive. A lot of Chapelthorpe owners walk the dog down the lanes instead.

My dog gets filthy in Coxley Woods, can you sort that out?

That's bread and butter for me. The paths along Coxley Beck get really muddy after rain and it cakes into feathering and undercoat. I'll wash it through, dry properly and brush out the grit so it doesn't set into mats.

We do the Newmillerdam walk a lot, what does that do to the coat?

Lake and pond water leaves a damp smell and clumps up the hair behind the ears and on the legs, and the fields add burrs and grass seed in summer. A bath, thorough dry and de-tangle puts it all right.

Can I walk my dog over from Chapelthorpe?

Plenty do. It's a short walk past the cricket club and down the lanes, and a walked-out dog usually settles better for grooming. Just let me know roughly when you'll arrive.

Is the home setup good for a nervous dog?

It's exactly why a lot of nervous and rescue dogs come to me. One dog at a time, in a calm room, with breaks whenever they're needed and no busy salon noise.

What happens if my dog's coat is badly matted?

I check the matting on the day and put the dog's comfort first, never forcing hours of painful brushing. Light matting is added to the groom, heavier work starts from an extra £10, and severe cases I talk through with you before anything begins. You'll always know the price before I start.
